Darrell (knoxville) and his friends of course!

Has anyone bothered to look in any GM literature to see if they worded it at all?

Definitely RS/SS. I don't think I've ever heard anyone call one an SS/RS til today...SS/RS? nope, that doesn't even sound right.

[/ QUOTE ]

It is definitely a Rally Sport Super Sport and a Rally Sport Z/28, as opposed to a standard Super Sport, or just Z/28. The Rally option comes first to designate over the base model. It is descibing what Super Sport or Z/28 it is.

I just took some pics from Chevy's 69 Sport Car Department brochure, and the caption show's SS/RS. I'll post pics a little later.

Someone please refresh my memory. If RPO Z/27 designates Super Sport package what is the RPO designation for the Rally Sport package?

Darrell

[/ QUOTE ]

Be careful as SS RPO's change in different years and models. .
Isn't RS Z-22....for '69 anyway? .

~ Pete

[/ QUOTE ]Yes,67-74 RS RPO Z-22. Changed in 75 to Z-85.

One of my favorite garage wall art items is an ad for the 1968 Chevy line up. It is titled “Some cars fake it These cars make it”.
It shows a Red 1968,,,396 equiped,,,hidden headlight beauty in the foreground. At the top of the ad the cars are described; ‘Camaro SS with ralley sport equipment’
Hence SS/RS
Take the 1968 Camaro sales brocure,,Again on the cover Red 396,,Hidden headlight car, described as:’ Camaro SS Sport Coupe with ralley sport equipment and vinyl roof you can order’.
Thus SS/RS
Looking at the Camaro option Packages described within,,Camaro SS Package description, they lead the potential purchaser to load up the car with options,,Re,,,”What’s that you say? You’d like an SS with all the features that come on a ralley sport (concealed headlights and the like). Easiest thing in the world. Just specify both. It’s as easy as that”.
SS/RS
Either way you slice it a very lucky person is one who has one (or two) by either name

Just do not get me started on “ Cowl induction”
AKA…”For more power, a special new intake hood is available. We call it Super Scoop. It opens on acceleration, ramming huge gulps of air to the engine”

UNDECIDED!
