I have a R-59 Delco battery that I took the plates out of for a show battery. This was a real R-59 that went bad and I cut the top off and removed the plates and reglued the top back on. The case is very nice and not cracked.

Do you think an optima will fit inside? Do you think you can get the top back off without damage? If so, I'll take it.

The case dimensions are 10"L x 6 5/8"W x 8"H. Take away 1" for the base and 3/8" for the side thickness. I would defer the Optima fitting question to someone who has done one before. I can cut the top off and not damage the case I use a very thin hobby saw. Check the dimensions of the Optima and see if it will fit inside.

I recommend the Odyssey PC680.It fits more complete inside the R-59 shell with room to spare.
