Car Show?

While looking through a draw of old photos (for the street scenes post), I can across this picture.

It's my first car show where I entered my Chevelle, back in 1984! Went with 2 of my buddies, who are parked on either side of me. All three of us had silver cars.

I found pics of their cars, haven't found the one of mine yet.

Do you remember the old "disc cameras"? What great pics they took.

My buddy still owns the Shadow Gray '70 Impala, but the lacquer is cracked and peeling and it just sits in a car port. My other buddy still owns the (I think) '69 Fury, but it's now in really bad shape.

Gotta say; all of my hard work (over 24 years!) has paid off, my Chevelle is still very presentable.

I actually found LOTS more show photos. After tossing that crappy disc camera, I bought a good film camera.

If you want some more <u>old</u> photos, just say the word Bruce.

I do, I was 16 years old.. Don't have a photo of the show but have a picture of my old 69 Nova.. What a beast that car was.. It was rough but very fast.. I acquired the car when I was 15. My Uncle and I rebuilt a 327 for it.. It had stock heads, Blackjack headers with SONIC TURBO mufflers (remember those??) turned down at the rear axle, mild Edelbrock performer cam, stock compression 9 1/2 to 1, Edelbrock dual plane high rise intake w/Holley 600.. Turbo 350 w/B&M shift kit (that would break the tires loose from 1st to 2nd gear shift) & 411 gears.. What really made the car scoot was the power shot 125 hp nitrous kit I added in high school... The car would smoke the tires all the way thru 3rd gear... I've said it before, I'm lucky that car was not my casket for all the stupid street racing I did in that thing and how "squirrely" it got... Great teenage/high school memories though!! Went on my first date in that car also.... I parted the car out some years back but still have the motor on an engine stand in my garage...

I do .. it is an annual show in the town I grew up in, "The Hillsborough Concours de Elegance" . Every May from the time I was 7 . Coming up on my 40th year... man that is scary !!
