According to the tool and die makers there. No one is in the slightest hurry to get the line up to speed. No leadership coming down from the top at all. What is going on with GM?

Those are pre production mules, test cars or show cars. Production was scheduled for 2-16 and then slipped to 3-16.

Roll out in 2008 was initially looking good then quickly bogged down with option issues from suppliers, litigation, and GM looking to cut corners to save money.

My 2SS is still on order - as there is no rush to cancel it due to GM not getting the pre-orders built until 10-09 or LATER. Initial ordering window opened on 10-13-08.

CAFE,GOVT regulations and GM's own design and RPO approval structure is like a Boa constrictor wrapped around the entire roll-out.

Oh yea there is that little detail about GM going broke too. Not holding my breath on getting a car that I want to buy any time soon.

Be sure to watch this video. Hit the play key off to the left and it will buffer up.

Rick and Greg have been very involved in educating the 5th generation enthusiast. They've given John Fitzpatrick a few headaches. GM spin is unbearable sometiumes....

"GM can not build what the consumer wants". Seems like that's been a problem for a couple of decades. Maybe when our elected felons mandate production things will be much better.

I think you are right Sam. They appear to be doing nothing. The guys say that there is no push from management to get Camaro production up to speed and the workers have been back for over three months now. GM seems to be more worried about getting Camaros into each dealership than they are in filling orders from people who want, and are willing to pay for the cars right now. In this economic climate, I think you had better get those sold cars built and out on the street. Cars in the show room aren't making them any money. Fill the show rooms later. There will be more than enough time for that. Anyone interested in buying a Camaro already knows what they look like and don't have to see one in person. These days any assembly line can build 60 vehicles an hour. 1000 hours and you will probably build all the Camaros that they will sell this year. Two shifts and you can build these in three months. I don't understand their thinking at all.

Their production plan makes you scratch your head. You have cars that are presold/customer ordered and they are on the back burner, yet they want to provide two cars to each dealer first. I guess the dealer can then mark-up the heck out of those cars. If GM thinks I am going to wait another year, they are mistakenly clueless. A Challenger or Shelby will do just fine.
