Default Crane Cams

Looks like Crane Cams is GONE. Someone will probably buy the rights to the name and carry on......hopefully. We all need their L72, LS6, L78 replacement cam.

I would guess patent rights etc. were part of the liquidation..and would imagine there would be a line for orders of Crane quality parts ...It would mean a quick return on for any investments and happy gearheads........Here's hoping they have the same quality control as the original CRANE CAMS.......

There has to be somebody out there who can custom grind an exact duplicate of a GM cam.? Unless I am missing something, it doesn't seem that big of task considering all the CAD systems in use, CNC machines etc.

Midway Performance in Mt. Carmel, Pa. grinds any cam you want. His name is Dan and goes by Predator Cams. He is an old drag racer that used to run the Rats Nest 1954?? corvette in Modified Eliminator. Phone:570-339-5913.

I had always heard that the only company allowed to copy the original GM grinds was Crane, so the other companies had to *tweak* their versions enough to be deemed legal...as a mater of fact, I was speaking with a guy at a performance wharehouse trying to track down a 143 and he mentioned the vary same thing. And us Pure Stock guys have found out the hard way that other blueprint cams aren't up to par with the GM/Crane units...

I would assume now that Crane is done, some of the other guys will be kicking GM's door in to reproduce the old cams OR they just toss the actual specs out there for anybody to copy.?

Honestly, I would say most of the cam companies couldn't care less, as they'd rather sell you *their* taylored camshaft...I'm looking into a solution, though.

Hurry! I visited my engine yesterday. There was a new Comp Cam sitting next to it.
