Default Made a goofy trade this weekend...

Last week an exgirlfriend wanted me to sell her 67 Mustang coupe that I had done much of the work on during its restoration about 5 yrs ago. The Stang had its original numbers matching 289, manual 3spd, rear, was painted it's original Frost Turqoise color. The car was fun to drive but kind of like being seen with your sister when you were a kid given the color and it being a Ford and all. Within four days I got an offer I liked, a guy down the street offered a straight across trade for a 97 XK8 Convertible Jag that he paid $20,000 for a little over two years ago, current value is a little north of $10K. My current girlfriend was looking for a convertible for the weekends and it was love at first sight when she saw it. I was a little hesitant since I don't know anything about these cars and figure reliablity isnt all that great. It has about any option you can put on a car, the paint is absolutely beautiful, the interior is in pretty good shape and it runs like a top. It's original sticker was insane, $69,900. Anyone here familar with Jags? Anyway I am into it for $6500, the girlfriend is happy and she will pay for any repairs. Should be a fun car for a couple years.

------Dave,,,Unless the miles are just completely out of sight you just made a killing. That Jag has a whole lot more left in it than $6500. I have actually been looking for one for a friend but he wants to lay off a near perfect 1984 white El Camino with 20,000 original miles first..........Bill S

Miles are 111,000, only one I saw lower on a quick check on the internet was in the 70000 mile range. The paint is killer on the car, deep metallic burgandy.

Talk to Stacey at Elite Repeat consignment shop on Hayden and Mountain View in Scottsdale, let her tell you about hers .... she has 1/3 those miles

they ARE pretty cars though, good luck

My step dad has the same car, same year. He paid 40K for it in 2001 or 2002, it only had 12k miles on it. He did have trouble with the power antenna and some computer issue last summer. The repair cost him a bundle like 2 grand...which isn't so bad considering its a 12 year old car..
