What was the approx. casting date of the last 840 heads and what heads would have been on a Late 70 CE block that would have been put in a COPO Chevelle.Could it have had 840 heads or something else. Were all CE engines long blocks or were the shortblocks stamped CE also.
Trying to determine options for engine replacement.Thanks. |

I am also wondering if it would be correct or possible for a 4th week July copo Chevelle to have the 291 heads? I currently have a E 5 9 840 and a F 3 9 291 on this car.Possibly correct or most likely not or absolutely wrong. If it was the end of a casting run for the 840's could they have mixed in 291s? According to the VIN's listed elsewhere ther are only 3 cars with a later VIN than this car. Is there any evidence that the late 69 COPO's had 291 heads?

Late COPOs could have 291s. I seem to remember someone talking about an L72 or L78 with a 291 on one side, and 840 on the other, supposedly from the factory.

Thanks guys. I was suspect that maybe this could be correct. Or at least plausible. Now I need a June or early July cast 512 block and all is good.
