Is there, any where, a step by step procedure to check out one of these units to see if it is actually functioning?

Keith,
Don't know about a step by step procedure out there in internet land, but you may want to check out Instruments Specialties. Ask for Mike Mancini. He restores old ignition systems and of course tests these systems. He may have some thots or experience with your GM system. 508.932.1349 Instrument Specialties
