I want to buy a Cam shaft and lifters to go back to stock for my LS6 Chevelle.
I know this topic has been brought up before here on this forum but i need to come to a conclusion of which company has a good working cam + lifters best suited to run my LS6 as close to stock. Part #'s and company names will be much appreciated so i can choose one. I know Comp Cams and lunati have a stock spec LS6 Cam. Does anyone know the part #'s and whats best? Any help appreciated. Just to let everyone know, the Smog system will be put back on the car this winter with stock exhaust manifolds,i will also run my stock distributor rebuilt by Jeff Dotterer. Car has a 3:31 posi gear ratio,M22 Trans and stock Holley carb.

From past experience on the track & the dyno, the Crane 143 blueprint is the way to go...and it's available again via Summit:

Thank you Rob,
What do you guys think of this COMP Cam Part # 11-106-3 Product Line >>> COMP Cams Factory Muscle Camshafts. I see the specs are identical to the Crane you mentioned above. The only difference is the Comp Cam shows the advertised Intake + Exhaust Duration and Crane doesn't. Comp is $130 compared to Crane's $246

Like Rob already said, go with the Crane. There's a lot more to a camshaft than what's printed in a catalog, and the guys here have tried just about every cam under the sun on these HP BBC's and keep going back to the 143.
Look at how Rob's Camaro performs with a 143 cam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E-bPTq7UYw That should tell you why. |

From real world experience, Comp can keep their Chinese crap 130 dollar cam.
