Default How to use the search function

Hello,

I been trying to use the search function a few times over the last few week. I was trying to find the thread about 9-12 months ago about the 69 PS pump where someone bought a ps pump from the parts store and used it for 396. I tried to type in 1969 Big Block camaro ps...then ps pump then 1969 PS. Everything that I found was within the last 2 months. So the real q...how do I find what I'm looking for?

Thanks
Chad

When you hit "search", did you select "advanced" then select the appropriate date range?

Never worked for me either. when I key in "air cleaners" in the advanced search, always comes back no matches found.

I sure won't pass for a fifth grader, but I got 200 hits when I type in

+air +cleaners

and then go down and tell it I want it to search for posts say, newer than 10 years old. Gotta set the year thing to where you want to search if you expect to find any thing. If you do it right, setting the <span style="font-style: italic">newer than</span> and <span style="font-style: italic">older than</span> you can narrow your search results to get posts from different years.

This is one thing that baffles me, folks having trouble with the search function...simply typing &quot;air cleaners&quot; [minus the quotation marks] into the default drop down search returns 200 results, which is the maximum display amount...heck, simply using the default setting on the advanced page [newer than 1 week] returns 27 posts?

I've posted the info before, but in case you missed it, there's even a pop up help &quot;Advanced Search Tips&quot; link on the advanced search page...[click here]
