Is there anywhere I can see the History and dates of the different USA-1 License plates with the different sayings that each had?

This was discussed here in the forums about 3 years ago or so. Mr.70 had it about figured out then
Perhaps someone who is really good with the search function can find the old thread. |

Nicely done Pete....
1971 production saw the birth of USA-1 "Putting You First In A Big Way". 1969 and the first half of 1970 production used USA-1 "Putting You First...Keeps Us First!",soon to be bumped for USA-1 "See America's First!" again. Per RicK aka: Mr70!

I've wondered about those plates too. I checked out that thread, but I think it would be nice if we had a permanent post that had pictures of each one and the years that they were used. How about that? Can we all pool some pictures and put it together??

John, that is correct. The plate has a blue background with white lettering... Somebody on e-bay was reproducing these things in a very good reproduction but they had a black background with white lettering. I should have bought one because I don't see them on there anymore... I think the seller had a buy it now of ten bucks on the plate...
Here is an original.... Rich ![]()

Rich,
That's a cool plate. My research has yielded 4 colors of these early 1-USA plates. Green with White letters, Orange with White letters, Blue with White letters and Black with White letters. I have 2 black ones in my collection and whats interesting is the white lettering is a reflective sand type paint. The mounting holes are unique in that like yours, they are not quite oval in shape. They are heavy steel plates like the later issue White and Gold USA-1 plates. If anybody has any factory merchandising info regarding the issue dates of these 1-USA plates I'd really appreciate learning more about these. Chris |
