Default L78 fan blade (5 spoke)

is there a way to determine if this fan blade is correct for a 1969 L78 nova?

My L78 Nova does not use a fan clutch so I don't think yours is correct but people smarter than me will chime in I hope.

Does not look correct to me. There should not be a hole in the center where it attaches to the water pump. Blades should not have the angle cut on the bottom. Also I have never seen one with an "H" stamped on it. The "W" however is correct.

Unless DH did something different it should not have the opening for the thermo clutch. The 68s had the clutch setup, but they also used the short water pump. Without the short water pump, there isn't enough clearance between the clutch, and the radiator.

69 and 70 BB Novas (L34 and L78) used a 5 blade non-clutch style steel fan, with offset blades...the "W" stamp was on the back. There are no part numbers stamped on these fans....most folks back in the day junked them because of the noise they made. The photo you posted is a more common clutch style..probably small block/Corvette if I had to guess.

Let me know if you want a 5 blade with the "w" stamp...

wilma

ps...why are the photos so big???
