I am installing an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold on the 304 V8 in my 74 CJ5 Renegade. If anyone here has experience with doing the install I have a question.
The manifold I removed only had an aluminum pan and did not utilize intake manifold gaskets. Also, it seems that there was no RTV around the intake ports just the water ports. What is the recommended way to install the manifold? It would appear - Clean areas to get RTV Apply RTV to ends of block omitting gaskets Apply RTV around water ports (intake ports also??) Install aluminum tray Apply RTV to same areas on top of the metal pan as applied under Install manifold Seem right???

I have always used the stock intake Gasket with Permatex® High Tack™ Gasket Sealant on both sides of tin gasket and RTV on the ends torque from the middle work your way to the outside
