Good looking car,but there's no way on Gods green earth the M-22 is original to this car.

M-20 or M-21 yes,but not an M-22 from the factory behind a 1970 350Hp.
I'm guessing it's a typo on his part, and is one of the former.

Im curious and trying to figure why you cant get a m22 with a 350 hp. Ive seen a real 69 ss 396 350hp car with a factory m22 and it was listed on the original window sticker. Im sure the car i seen was real. Was it different for 70?

Yes,1970 was a whole new ball game.
They refused to put an M-22 behind the 396~402 L-34 or L-78 Chevelle.
I think it had to do with previous warranty issues or because they were re-tooling the M-22 for the new 454 Chevelle during 1970 production and beefing it up for the 500lbs. of torque.Either way, they didn't allow it.
All the manuals, ordering guides, dealer albums and build sheets I've seen back this up.
No M-22 allowed for a 1970 Chevelle 396~402.

...and no M-20 or M-21 allowed behind an 1970 LS-5 or LS-6 454 Chevelle either, which was probably about the 500lbs. of torque in front of those trannnys during the 5/50 warranty as well.

They didn't want the "family guys" that were buying those lower horsepower SS's to be complaining forever about all the whining noise coming out of their transmissions.
