A friend of mine has asked me to help him sell his 67 RA Convertible. Burgundy over black with black top - restored years ago, currently in super clean driver condition. This is one of the late production cars built with the 9792510 4- bolt blocks and the 997 heads. Correct block comes with the car, balance of correct motor is in the car now. Excellent history & documentation going back to 1970 including copies of titles & transfers - the next owner can dig deeper if they choose.
The options list isn't terribly long, but well chosen. This car was built in Code N-Burgundy Metallic paint with Code 2-Black Convertible top & Code 223-Black Expanded Morrokide (Vinyl) bucket seats with rear bench. The other options are as follows: Push Button Radio & Manual Antenna Rear Seat Speaker Rally Gauge Cluster & IP Tachometer Rally I Wheels Console Exhaust Extensions Power Steering Power Brakes Custom Floor Shift Knob Glass – Soft Ray – All Ride & Handling Package, Springs, Shocks & Stabilizer bar Floor Mats Front & Rear F70 14 Red Line Firestone Wide Oval Tires Safe-T-Track Rear Axle Close Ratio 4spd Manual Transmission (M-21) HD 4 Pinion Posi Rear with 4:33 Gears (Code ZL) Ram Air (Code XS) Noted as missing as of 08/10/88 Only 7 RA GTO convertibles have been documented by PHS as having survived, with it's 07D build date this one is likely the last. Interested parties may contact me and I will put you in touch with the owner. Price is $99,000. Great article in High Performance Pontiac back in 2009 about a hardtop in Long Island. Hardtops are hard to find, convertibles - like hens teeth, add in the later block & heads - 1 of 1 remaining?

by the way, the guy in the photo, Angelo Bovarro (I believe) of Juliet Illinois, is the guy who pulled the car out of the shed in about 1988, and had Fred Simmonds pull the factory invoice, to discover it was a Ram Air car. This was before PHS. the PHS doc you have that came with the car is the one I got from Jim Mattison, in 1995. I bought the car from Angelo, substantially unrestored, in 1995, and collected the parts used in the restoration, including a date correct 67 400 block, and the 997 heads (bought via Hemings from a guy 50 miles from the shed it had been in, near Joliet, since 1974, until Angelo pulled it out. I found the NOS original ram air pan, and had a factory original morrikide interior for it (which obviously did not get installed by the restorer, one John Samples in Osage KS, not a good guy.
I sold the car, regrettably, in late 1998 to John, along with $12,000 of NOS parts, including the 997 heads, the NOS pan, an NOS tail panel, bumpers, etc... I think John lost or sold most of the stuff except the NOS pan and the 997 heads. I later found a 67 RA hardtop, own it to this day. Plum Mist 4 speed. Drive it to work in good weather, but stored the close ratio 4 speed, and installed an OD five speed to make it drivable. still has the 4:33 gears, the XS motor, original carb, distributor, etc... I also still have some old paperwork on the car from the 70s and 80s. Lindengreen. |

Gary, I just saw this - I'll be getting in touch with you or will have the current owner do so, thanks!
Jim Mattison's 67 RA hard top just sold with buyer's commision at BJ for $115,500. Kind of makes this car a bargain! http://forums.performanceyears.com/f...d.php?t=745690 ![]()
