I seen a 69 z28 that has been restored and for sale on the internet that was 50 Dover white with 720 orange houndstooth interior and was thought to be the only white/orange combo car left. I bought my car about 8 months ago out of Virgina from the second owner that bought it in 1978 and has been in a garage ever since. It's an all original matching number car that has not one spot of rust and all original panels. I was just wondering how rare my car might be. Does anyone know?

Can't give an exact number, as Chevrolet did keep track. But it would be rare.

As far as Z's go it's probably pretty rare...in general though the white with orange houndstooth interior isn't as rare of a color combo as one may initially think as the Z11 Pacecars came with that color combo...if I remember correctly there were a couple thousand of those made. The Black paint with orange or yellow houndstooth seems to be much more rare.

Fred, I missed out on an x-66 10 10 car with an orange houndstooth interior in South Carolina a few years ago. Just couldn't get down there to look at it. I am waiting for that one to surface again!

This is from CRG:
720 Orange Houndstooth normally available only with 72 Hugger Orange. 714 Yellow Houndstooth normally available only with 76 Daytona Yellow. Other exterior colors, such as 10 Tuxedo Black and 50 Dover White, have been observed with both interiors, but in limited quantities. At this time, it isn't clear if these color combinations required a special order, or were routinely available. |

LOL - could they even say that in today's "PC" era? I'll bet they never dreamed that these "girly" interiors would be sought out by muscle car collectors 40+ years later. |

I'm confused. You saw a car for sale and you bought a car eight months ago. I take it your car is *not* the one you saw on the internet? Is it the same color? I know of at least (4) 50 Dover white with 720 interior 69's.
