After lusting after this little-known option, I've finally seen a car with this stripe.
Here's an item of literature that shows this stripe, which presumably was a mid-year item: http://www.superchevy.com/features/c...ales_brochure/ The data plate of this Camaro is utterly conventional so there aren't any answers there. I know there's been a discussion here'n there about this stripe, but I thought I'd check in and see if anyone else has seen another car like this and what other bits of info may be out there. It's strange that something that appeared in a brochure is so obscure. PS> Yeah, I know, the side badging is strange... |

Is this a Rally Sport option only?

I don't think so - the regular nose stripe wasn't, right?

Back in the day I had a 74' that had multicolored stripes that ran over the roof ... the car was basically yellow ...

That's the D88 stripe. Shows up in some promotional stuff. None known produced.
That car was in CA years ago. Supposedly very original, but it isn't.

So was it an option that no one ever liked enough to order or did it never make it to the final cut on the option list? It seems kind of neat, surly somebody would have ordered it.

I've seen two locally in the last 25 years. Both were decals, much like the side stripe. The first was like the car shown and the second was in shades of blue on a blue car. Both cars blew my mind with originality. Both were unrestored. Maybe, maybe not...pretty cool none the less!
