I thought this song was relevant today. It felt like a "Barn Find" kinda day.
I am slowing selling off my collection for kids college, getting down to two, maybe three cars. Sold the 72 C10 Highlander a few weeks ago. Chevelle went last year. The 70 Z28 COPO is one that I decided to part with, oh, about a year ago. MacNeish certified the car and only found four items non original (Starter, Alternator, Smog/Exhaust Mans and Interior). And I have the original COPO codes on the buildsheet. The paint was getting tired, so I sent her over to a friend of mine before putting her up for sale, the same guy who did the great job on the 70 L78 and the 69 Hugger Orange Camaro. He started on it, sanded out some putty in a few small places and then she went into the corner as his shop signed with State Farm. Like a forgotten toy, every once in a while I'd call "Kevin" and he would say he would get one of the guys on it "next week". I stopped in every three or four months and each time there was more sanding dust and debris on her. Finally, after a year I told "kevin" no hard feelings, but I would come get the car. He agreed that his time was now to limited too continue to fool with classic cars. So, I packed up the trailer and went over to his shop. Some fresh gas, and a battery charge and the Z turned right over. A rag was needed to clean the dusty off of the windshield to make room to see. Like I said above, I kinda started feeling like it was a barn find as I reacquainted myself with the car. How original it is (only 80k original miles) and how good the body is. I even still have the original spare tire and rim. Hence, the reference to the song above where he starts looking for a new lady and realizes how much he likes the one he already has. ![]() ![]() Anyways, just a cool Friday story. Rich
