Default 1966 Hemi Charger

I'm a quickly becoming the new owner of Andy's "fabled" 1966 Dodge Hemi Charger. It's the car that was featured on the December 23, 2015 episode of Graveyard Carz, wherein Mark Worman and Tony D'Agostino debated the authenticity of the hemi as one of the 85 "Nascar Program Cars". Mark concluded "Yes" and Tony said "No Way".

I have been researching the subject with several of my buddies at 66-67charger.com. I have received several item of info that tend to support the "Yes" position.

Can any of the members help out one way or the other? I'm a declared "Newbie" on this site and need all the help that I can get.

Many thanks!

I would suggest going to the Dodge Charger dot com forum with it. Lots of very good Charger-NASCAR knowledgable experts there

Been on there. Honestly, for the most part, they seem (IMHO) to be fairly critical of Worman, Govier and the possibility that any "Nascar Program Car" ever existed--as it relates to a 66 Hemi Charger.

I did some research and discovered that Jim Donnelly, a writer for Hemmings Muscle Machines, did two articles mentioning the "fabled 85" in February and March, 2006. I have written to him for assistance.

I will continue to hold out hope that some of our members may offer credible input.

Too bad.....they know their stuff better than most. As far as the names you mentioned.......
This from ones website:

Two words: Mopar Guru. In the world of Chrysler muscle cars Mark has very few equals. He is self described as both a "natural comedian" and "the greatest Mopar restoration technician the world has ever known".

Wow!!!!!! They forgot humble!

And Galen - Galen is Galen. I get along with him just fine.......many don't.

Anyway - I'll ask around to see what I can dig up for you.

THX, Canuck!

I don't know Mark or Galen personally. I have emailed Worman asking for any assistance or input. Have not received a reply--maybe he's just too busy with yoga or softball throws to have time for the small guy. Guess I'll just wait and see.

dodgecharger.com Doug Shellinger 'aero426' has forgotten more about Mopar NASCAR racecars than anybody you mention here knows.

Absolutely agree with this.

Here's an idea to consider; bring the car to MCACN in Chicago in November. You are not likely to find more true Mopar experts and aficionado's in one place at the same time anywhere in the world.
