The ones I have seen the rear bar goes in between the top and bottom seat area. |

I had planned on trimming the bar to the contour of the seats at the point of intersection. Then welding a cap on the bar with another smaller diameter bar (5/8" to 3/4" dia) centered inside the tube to slide between the seats and mount to the floor. Same seats and a bar that "looks" fully functional. Maybe some day I'll do it... BIG |

It goes between them, but you need a heck of a dent in the seat to get it in....

I saw one where the down bar was dissected and s piece of flat stock was inserted and welded. I will be facing the same challenge, and as of now, am not sure what way I'll go. That flat stock couldn't be detected once the seats were installed, so I may get those dimensions and modify mine. My interior is near mint and will not alter the seats.

I remember back in the day most guys would just shove the back seat cushion as far back as possible on that side, without trying to engage it with the factory mount tab on the floor.
That was the most authentic Day Two method of installation. |
