We had exactly the same situation on a 67 Corvette coupe. It was a dated correct reproduction rear glass and the moldings would not snap on. The thickness of the repo glass was thinner too.

The 67 Corvette that I addressed in my post used OEM Glass and the moldings were NOS. OEM took the glass back and made it right.

Yes, this is fairly common even for dated glass.

Yes on Chevelle, and Nova also. I've seen some you could almost throw a cat through on the edges. Especially the clear glass. Better on the tinted, but not much, and no consistency.

Purchased the glass from PS Auto Glass in WI.They tried there best to resolve but after three pieces of glass they gave up. The stainless trim has nothing to do with it.Its original.

I've never heard anyone complain about Pilkington. My windshield has some scratches, so when I replace it, I'll order the Pilkington.

Pilkington is the best I've found. Thick, heavy glass made to factory spec and date coded to your specs. They truck ship in a giant wooden crate that costs a fortune but it arrives safe. I had two windshields and one side glass made for my Firebirds They duplicated the original date codes perfectly from photos of my existing chipped and scratched glass.
