Wasn't that style also used for the '70 model year, which would put the date stamp within regular production?

That clock is a combination of parts from a 70 clock and a 71-72 clock. Luis clearly shows a picture of the
Clock Works Company in his last picture. Remove the hands and twist the tabs on the side of the face and off it comes. That should explain the 69 date with the 71-72 face. Chris |

Additionally, instrument rebuilders will paint the face anyway you like...
PS. that one was called 'white face' but ... I would have called it a black face clock...???
