Thanks for the reply Chuck
I did a search. I was unable to come up with the answer I was looking for, that is why I posted the question. Not all information is posted on the internet. I have found forums to have far more detailed information regarding vintage performance parts manufactures, from the day two period. Bernhard

Schiefer Manufacturing continued to grow during the '60s. Under the elder Schiefer's guidance, the company became the largest manufacturer of specialty drivetrain components in the world.
They were then purchased by Hurst Performance Inc. I don't believe they are manufacturing anything under the Shiefer brand name these days. Only things on ebay are NOS.

I don’t believe they are on business anymore either. I remember back in the day, they were the clutch to have!
On a side note, I had a ‘68 Nova with a 427 4-speed. I ran a Borg Warner Brute Force clutch and it worked well. When I installed the 4-speed in my Chevelle, I found out that they didn’t make the Brute Force clutch anymore. I asked around on this site what clutch to run and someone chimed in to run a Hays Street Strip clutch. I have one in my car now and it reminds me of the B/W I had....it takes a beating!! Kirt

I'm running a Hayes in both my M22 cars. Great clutches but I have heard that the Hayes Gold Street Strips have recently gone Disco'd

Yes.....they are a little heavier than stock but we’ll worth it. My wife, who’s only 5’2” tall, drives the Chevelle.

Yep Karen will have that car in the 11's before the old man will. You should see her bring those R's up and side step that clutch and row thru those gears! |
