Check this bad boy out. My brother in law owns a few storage areas and one of his units was rented out to a guy who had a bunch of old cars and parts and stuff stored in it. He was getting out of the hobby and moving out of state. My BIL gave him my number after he asked if he knew anyone who might be interested in some stuff that he had.

Long story short I ended up with a lot of his NOS parts, automobilia, tools, etc. In the very back corner, was this old Sun 1115 Engine Performance Analyzer. I asked him about it and he said he won it in a raffle, used it once, and there it sat. He told me it is fully functional and when I asked him what he wanted for it, he looked at me and went “kid, that thing is so @#$%ing heavy that if you can get it out of here and in your truck, its yours…

SAY NO MORE! This was around 3:00 on a Friday afternoon, so I quickly ran across the street to a warehouse, found the foreman, and told him “I have $50 with your name on it if i can borrow you AND your forklift across the street for 20 minutes” (I couldn’t make this up if i tried) So me and him rode across the industrial park, got the machine out of the unit and in my truck in no time.

Drove it all the way home, and across the street from my shop is a paving company. I’m cool with them and they let me borrow their shop forklift, and then lifted it out of the truck and into the shop. I plugged it in, and it lite right up.

Pretty cool I think, thankfully it came with all the manuals and stuff so I know how to use the scope and everything. My wife even came and took a pic of me using it. If nothing else, it looks cool.

That's the exact model machine I just got rid of for $100! BTW, the top unit will unbolt from the cabinet for transport. Only four, 1/2 nut bolts hold it together.

Need an A/C recycling machine to go with it? I have 2 real cheap!

Have you tried to used the exhaust analyzer yet? I'd be surprised if it still functioned - they used latex-based tubing for some of the internal plumbing and they may have turned to dust after this long.

I Only realized it unbolted after I read the manual and it was already unloaded. The “sniffer” sometimes works…. Most times not. Though it’s not really necessary for my purposes

What I’d really like to get is one of those distributor machines that you set your curve on.

What I’d really like to get is one of those distributor machines that you set your curve on.

If you pull off the giant back panel you will see all the hoses that are involved with the siffer system. You can carefully replace each one with clear fuel line hose. There is one specific hose that has a restricted oriface built in. You can actually reproduce it with the clear fuel line by sliding a similar thickness piece of copper wire inside a section of plastic hose and the melting the hose and flattening it. Once it cools, pull out the metal wire and the oriface is successfully reproduced.

Oh man, this thing brings back memories. We used to have one these in the bays at the Sunoco I used to work at. Wow, haven't seen one or thought about it in years. But seeing here brought back a boat load of memories for sure. Nice piece, nice find,

Great piece of equipment. I learned to work on these old cars in the early 70’s with a predecessor of this machine. Model 1020 as I recall. The scope pattern would indicate a bad wire very clearly and you could kill each cylinder one by from the controls. Used it on my Yenko back in the days.
