Found this interesting article on the Dana Camaro drag car. Dale Armstrong, who ran the High Performance Center for Dana Chevrolet, also campaigned this 1968 Hugger Orange 396/375 Camaro in NHRA's SS/C class. The article states that when he ran the car with cast iron heads NHRA rated it at 425 hp with shipping weight of 3235 lbs and with Alu heads NHRA rated it at 435 hp with a shipping weight of 3162 lbs.
Seems like all the Chevy high performance dealers sponsored drag cars but this is the first time I saw this Dana Camaro. |

Joe,
That info was very cool. Thanks! I have met Dale Armstrong at RP, he is very cool. I think that he drove a "altered wheelbase" 1965 Chevy Nova similar to Dickie Harrell's "Retribution II". Now here is some info that I have thought about for a while, Don Fezzell's "Enoch Chevrolet Z-11 Impala" has a "Enoch Chevrolet" license plate frame on it that says that "Enoch Chevrolet" was from South Gate (a neighborhood in LA) California. Did "Enoch Chevy" become "Dana Chevy"? I find it interesting that "Enoch Chevy" sold one of only 57 rare high-po Impalas and then "Dana Chevy" went on to became a "Super Car Dealer". What do you think? Andrew |

Andrew;
According to Super Chevy Magazine, June 1990, Peyton Cramer was granted a dealer license for the former Enoch Chev. in South Gate, CA. Peyton called it 'Dana' after Dana Avenue in Ohio where he street raced in prior years. The article also claims that the total production of Dana Camaros was approximately 50 cars. Your theory appears to be correct, Marlin

I believe this is the same car. In the article it says it was campaigned by Dana and the engine was built by Armstrong.

I have found this car, the Camaro pictured above, in a later issue (early '70's) of Popular Hot Rodding. It was being run as a street car. It said in the article the car was run by Dana and the engine was built by Armstrong. The car had aluminum slots on it and had the words "Whole Shot" on the back quarters. I would say it is the same car.
