Default Need help choosing a new digital camera!

We are needing to buy a new digital still camera (just bought a digital camcorder), but need to know what you guys are using.

I know Charley has a good one (what brand?), and some others that have sent in pics have some as well. The new camcorder has one, but it's not quite of the quality we need, and our old Sony Mavica just won't cut it any more...any advice?

I have a Canon S100 which has 2 megapixel resolution. The best thing I like about it is the size which is comparable to a pack of cigarettes.

Mine is a Olympus D400..1.3 Megapixel. I'm very happy with it. The Resolution setting I use is the lowest quality. At that setting I can take 122 pics. The highest setting only takes 19 pics. Any of the pics I have posted on this site have been at the lowest setting.

I use a Minolta Dimage E201 that has the following options:
2.3 Mega pixels
magnification X1.4 (1280x856 Pixels)
X2.0 (896x600 Pixels)
Movie recording up to 60 seconds
Continuous advance to allow for multiple images at one time
Single frame advance
Self timer.

It allows for image Quality in Super-fine/Fine/Standard/Economy

Automatic white balance + a full array of flash modes.

The best part about this camera is its easy to use and the carring case that comes with it fits on your belt so your hands are free. on the negitive side when in movie mode it doesnt record sound so you have a color 1920 speak-easy
Well laid out instruction manual.

I purchased a Sony CDMavica 3.3 Mega Pixels.
It is big ,clumsy and way too complex for me to use to its fullest extent.
I do like popping the CD right into the computer.
The battery lasts a long time and the CDs hold quite a few pictures. It also records up to 3 min. video with sound.

I've got a Sony Digital Camara Recorder (DCR-TRV730) It uses 8mm tape to record digital video and has a memory chip for digital pictures. It also records short .mpg movies to the chip. It's advertised at 1,070,000 pixels and has a view finder as well as an lcd display. It connects to the PC via USB port and the memory chip shows up as an additional drive as soon as the camara is plugged in...

Best of both worlds and the newer models are better than ever...
