Default '69 L89 Nova's ??

Hi, can anybody tell me conclusivelyif there were ever any L89 Nova's FACTORY built in 1969. I hear talk here, and elsewhere, that they existed.

www.novaresource.com says there were 311 made...

NNN says NONE were made..

I have seen statements that they have been seen on dealers lots? I believe I may have seen the same back then...looking for supporting and documented facts.

Also, does anyone know if the 414 or 041 or 492 heads came FACTORY INSTALLED on '70 LT-1's? We all know 186's did...I have seen where 414's were Corvette LT-1 only? Just curious if anyone knows different??

thanx, Jim

Salseman at Central in Ontario says they sold both. I have seen documentation (as well as the Camaro)
from GM of Canada to prove that it was sold, and sold at Central. He just a couple of days ago has agreed
to let me go through his records sometime this spring. He kept all his original bill of sales for all cars he sold,
so I hope to find some. I'll update once this happens.
My COPO Nova came with 186 heads. Any I have seen came this way. These cars were all built in a 3 week
period, and are all very consistant. Not like some cars that had early and late production differences.

Thanx for the reply Pete. So, the 1969 L89 Nova is fact huh?? cool..

Apparently the 414 was a 1970 LT-1 Corvette, one model year only head. Sounds pretty rare. My 100% original '70 Z28 is an 06D car and I know what heads are on it.

Maybe George S. who works for GM Canada documation service can research the Nova L89 option. Not sure if he can do it without a vin no. though.

Check out the production figures for L89 Camaros.

Then you may understand why I think none were made.

Jim;
Please show me where on Scott's site it says 311 made, I can't find it. I'm looking at this particular page;

Only 18 1970 L-78 engined Chevelles recieved the RPO L-89 Al. Head option.
No other Chevrolet car got the Al.Head in 1970 from the factory.
I have seen 3 so far.But only one has a Buildsheet with past owners history to document.I would like to obtain one one day.Anyone hear or see anyothers?
Documentation is a Must on this option,as you can easily build them yourself with an L-78 engine.

Jim;
I see now where Scott shows the 311, thx. I think it is an error, here's my logic.

Of the 175 COPO LT1 Novas produced, 80+ have been found, more than half have paperwork. Wouldn't you think that with almost twice as many L89 Novas supposedly produced, at least 'one' would have shown up by now with paperwork? An even better example is the '68 COPO/Gibb/Harrell Novas with 15-25 produced, with at least 2-3 found with paperwork. I'm not saying an L89 Nova wasn't possible, but 311?

I thought the 311 number was for L89 Camaros. If they only made 311 Camaros with the L89, then I seriously doubt they made even half that(if any at all) in the Nova.
