Default Super Capital of the world? Illinois or PA?

This is a question that the more that I learn about supercars the more I have wondered about. I have read Ed C's site and after a year of reading this site I have read about a lot of supercar Camaros, Chevelles, and Novas that were delivered new in Illinois. Dealers like Fred Gibb, Jack Douglas, Fencil Tufo, Nickey (even though no documented COPO's have been found thru them that I have read about) and a few other misc dealers had sold a lot of new COPO cars here in IL. We all know about the cars that were sold in PA at Yenko and other dealers there. I am just curious with looking at volume who sold more IL or PA? I have read the thread about Ohio being the Muscle Car capital of the world and I kind of agree with the fact that they probably had more different dealers selling COPO's but those dealers probably sold one or two each and some even sold a few+. What state was the volume COPO king?

I believe Florida holds the record where most of the Hi-Perf cars were delivered to.Correct me if I'm wrong?

On a similar topic,I have noticed an awful lot of Illinois members on this B/B.Are we the leading state for members here???

Rick were you serious about the Florida thing? I was refering to Supercars being deilvered new in IL though. Mainly COPO's

I think that you are right about IL having the most board members on the sYc site. Ohio and PA are close. If you are looking at reigons it is the Midwest by a land slide.

It is funny for folks that can't even drive their supercars year around, Northwesterns seem to own most of them. Maybe that is y I hadn't seen one before a year ago. They were kind of methical to be.

For the '70 Yenko Deuces, PA was third for highest quantity sold new. First was Virginia, then Illinois. Virginia only had two dealers selling Yenkos, mainly due to the sales agreement between Colonial Chev. and Don Yenko, but the Navy business was very strong. Illinois had 7-8 dealers selling the Yenkos in '70, primarily in the Chicago area. Pennsylvania had 4 dealers selling deuces in '70, however Yenko was the primary dealer, the other three appear to have only sold 3 cars each.

Today, I would have to say Alton, MO. Per capita there is a Yenko for every 150 residents.

Come on Tom! I would have thought I would get a more serious answer to this question. Im sure that at least one of the supercar enthusiasts out there have calculated this before.
