Any Californians ever heard of Bear Chevrolet ? I believe it may have been somewhere in the vicinity of Salinas....owner was from Arleta, California.

I think what you may be talking about is Baher Chevrolet. They had a little bear as their logo and I think the pronunciation sounds like bear. They were originally in Manhattan Beach, CA (if I remember correctly) and sponsored Dick Guldstrand and his Corvette in the mid '60s. Toward the later part of the '60s they moved to the San Fernando valley. I believe the actual town was Northridge. I did go to the dealership at that location a time or two in the late '70s/early '80s. They were a performance oriented dealership. Hope that helps.

Baher was 7 miles west of Arleta. Jach Head was down in Alhambra and that was 27 miles SE from Arleta. Maybe there was some sort of dealer trade?

Excellent info. I believe there was a dealer trade involved.I think Head was the originating dealer and the sale went thru Baher....they did spell it Bear on the Warranty folder....original owner from Arleta so Baher must be the one...Now that I have correct info I can start searching for a dealer emblem or tag.....Jon do you know if they are still in Northridge ?

We don't use the dealership emblems on the body out here in CA. The typical thing was a dealership license plate frame. I'll try and keep my eyes peeled at the swap meets and see if I can find some for you. Can't guarantee I will but I'll try. I will check to see if they are still in business and get back to you. My guess is that they have changed hands by this time.

That would be great...I did a Google search on Baher Chevrolet and I must say and they seem to have had quite a history of racing...the only dealer I see in Northridge is Rydell Chevrolet now.
