Steve...are the caps new too ? If so there are some people vomiting right now who paid a whole lot of money for an NOS setof wheels a year or so ago !

The originals where rivited together I believe. These repos will hurt the price of the originals but someone doing an all out resto will still pay plenty for a mint original set.
They will not want to see on the backside how they were welded together. Is Hurst making these or another vendor? Dave

They are being made by a different vendor. I beleive they are being made in 14" flavor with original type beauty rings. They are also offering 15 through 18" ones with out the rings and just having the rim chromed. I'll try and get the guys information if anyone wants it.

I am curious. Is the only difference from the originals the fact that they are not rivoted on the backside? If so,once they are mounted on the car,will that detail even show up? I like the look of these,but I am not an expert on what the details should be on this rim. Are they authentic in every other way? Rick

I do not know how the original backside shape of the original wheels looked. You could however see the spoke area that is welded to the rim on a car if you looked close enough between the brake drum and the wheel rim itself. A anal retentive restorer type would probably notice the spoke part of the wheel was welded to the rim and cry foul during concourse judging. The restoration taliban would imediately run over and beat the hapless fellow with rubber hoses whose only crime was running repo wheels and he would forever be kicked out of GTOodom and hence no 71 spanking new GTO's waiting for him in heaven.
