I was wondering if any body could help me in decoding this cowl tag?
Thanks in advance.

114166 =
051 =

68-15411 = 1968 2 door Biscayne- 8 Cylinder
TAR = Tarrytown, NY Assembly plant
254014 = Production Seq number
802 = black Vinyl Interior
A-A = Black exterior paint, top and bottom

Odd that theres no build date on the tag, thats unless the top 051 was stamped wrong and should be 05A if the die that stamped the A was broken. I'm not ure how they would stamp the week if this were the case.

If the 051 was the build date it would be 1st week of May build date.

Thanks Jeff. I had to throw this out to the masses. Those numbers at the top of the tag had me going "huh?". I haven't been able to find anybody that knows what they mean. Just so you know this tag is from a '68 L72 Biscayne. One my buddies owns it. It's currently going through a body-off and we're trying to figure things out. He does have the Proteco-plate, but there isn't anything on it to give us any clues about the other numbers. Maybe you're right about the die being busted.

Has anybody else seen a tag like this or have any ideas??

Chevy By The Numbers talks about some tags not having build dates on them and as for the 1st top number, i bet its inline with the LOS assembly plants internal production codes on the Camaro Tags. Have you decoded the POP for the car yet?

I wish I had a picture of the POP as well. I have seen it and saw the L72 stamped on it. That was years ago before I really started to dig into things. I'll have my brother go over to my buddies place and have him write down all the POP stuff. I'll decode what I can and post all the info.
