Default Diecast Car Observations:

Hey guys I was looking at this diecast Camaro Z28 today and realized this company has made some drastic mistakes. For starters the steering wheel, and rear panel state that the car is a RS car. When looking at the front of the Camaro, the grill assembly is for a regular - NON RS car. Then when looking at the engine compartment, the Camaro does not have a cowl unit, but has a cowl hood. Am I missing something here? Why would a company make such a junk replica? I have too much time on my hands.

Dan,
That car is yet another repaint by Ertl for a company called Evergreen. yes, it is wrong, but there are alot of other cars that are done wrong too, since Ertl was bought out a few years ago by Racing Champions. Now if Exoto does what they are supposed to, do the 69 Camaro, that will probably be (hopefully too) done 100% correct and then some since those cars go for around $200 or so. if you, or anyone else, is into diecast cars, the best source on the web is www.diecastpub.com alot of good info about cars out and cars coming. Hope this helps. Terry

You collectors need to start watching all the small auctions in your area. My lil sis who is now getting into the Diecast cars just sent me this in an E-mail:

<font color="blue"> [ QUOTE ]
Bought about 16 cars, range was $7.50 to $12.50. Got a 1970 Hemi Cuda, Orange, and got some zl1's and stuff. some of it we won't keep, but we have 7 nephews who will get some cars for Christmas.

Seems even the good ole boys out in the country collect and sell them.

Me too...I just got two hauler sets, Black Chevy 3500 towing a trailer with a 69 maroon z/28 cross ram, 1/18 scale. It is made for Weil Mclain heating company by Ertl, Really nice set. Had to buy 2 boilers to get them. The truck has a bunch of heating parts with a couple of boilers on it and the trailer has a wind screen that the Z/28 noses into...promotion is over...maybe this month well get ZL-1 ...Seems Ive got too much time on my hand also...

Anyone else catch the side note in the January Hot Rod on custom diecasts? For about $400, you can get a one-off 100% accurate recreation of your own vehicle. If anyone has that issue at hand, post up the website. (Sorry I left it at home.)

WOW! That is sweet! So many questions! Sammy I am just curious. How much did you buy it for, is $55 + $12.50 a good price for the e-bay unit? Where did you buy it?

I paid $2,400.00 for 2 sets and the plumbing supply gave me two Weil Mclain Ultra Boilers for free...what a deal!
