As I'm not a 70 Chevelle expert, could someone elaborate on my questions....1)The EBAY 70 Chevelle in above link appears to have a COWL hood.......I thought that the NON-COWL LS-6's got the Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner and the COWL hood cars got the Cowl Induction set-up......2) Did 70 L-78 Chevelles have Cowl Induction Hoods as an option AND Flat Hoods standard with the Dual Snorkel OR maybe prior to January 1970 L-78 Chevelles had an OPEN element Air Cleaner.....Chuck S / Seattle

The Chevelle in the ad does have a Cowl Induction hood (technically) but, the hood is not the style that has the vacuum operated flap at the back. I think those hoods with the flap came with the sealed air cleaner while the hoods without either came with the dual snorkel or an open element air cleaner.

"Frame-off Total Restoration......
Totally Original...... Absolutely Nothing Wrong with this Chevelle......" Uh, not exactly! Chuck, The SS option included the "Special Domed Hood" but the "Cowl Induction" option featured the vacuum actuated flapper and air cleaner that sealed to the bottom of the hood. These features applied to the L-78 cars as well as the earlier LS-6 cars. Non Cowl Induction L-78s and early LS-6s received the open element air cleaner. The later Non CI LS-6s received the dual snorkle. Mr. Nelson or Mr. Peters can fill you in on the dates all these changes took place, as well as Greg Carlson; all much more knowledgable than I! I am no expert but here is what I think is wrong besides what has been mentioned already. Relay is mounted in the wrong place (usually on the wire loom gutter)
missing rear hood to cowl seal cowl shouldnt have plastic vents pulleys dont look deep groove (unless he has a thick belt on it) wrong thermostat housing wrong master (no bleeders) wrong valve covers should have stand in front of bolt.

Mr Yenko...Being that 70 production probably started in August of 69, a Feb built 70 LS6 would be considered a mid to late production car. This seems close to the point where some late assembly plant changes can be documented. Does that Feb LS6 car have CO in box #55 on the build sheet? Anybody else have any more info to share?....Kevin

I understand what you are saying, but the LS-6 option didn't start till around late Dec. 69.So wouldn't that be considered a Early LS-6? Yes, both cars have CO code in box #55 and both air cleaners are with the cars. The Feb. car is a double black, bench seat 4-spd. Scuncio car.And the June car is double black, red interior. Marvin Chevrolet,Chesire Ct."MOF"
