Default Original Owner Questions.

Hey Guys,

I was looking over the documentation I have on my 1970 Camaro and I noticed a phone number from the original owner that I had not tried calling before. So I called. I asked for David and said I had a few questions about the car. Immediately he said I am not the person he sold the car to which is correct as I am the 3rd owner of the car. I explained to him how I found the car ect. He then said there is nothing he knows about the Camaro that I could not find out from the man I bought the car from. Which is probably true again. I asked him if he had any pictures, documents, or stories he would not mind sharing about the car. He did not want to talk to me and I thanked him for his time. Any advise? This guy had a ton of muscle cars and classics. I saw one picture of his garage from the 1980's that had 4 or 5 Chevy cars in it. Thanks guys.

-Dan

Sounds like a lost cause but it wouldn't hurt to try back in a few months or so...

Maybe couldn't hurt to try sending a letter with a picture of the car in it's current condition. Or enclosing copies of some of the documentation you have. Might spark emotions. Drives me nuts to hear of individuals who won't give you the time of day. Especially when there is evidence that they have an interest in the cars whether it was in the past or currently.

Good luck.

Dan,

If he's close enough maybe you should even drop by with the car? Most of the people I talk to about their old cars love to talk about them because they bring back fond memories. There was only one gentlemen that I talked to that was annoyed by my phone call. I think he just had a bad day because I called him back later on to ask a few more questions and he was nice as could be. I'd say give it a few weeks and either call him again or stop by his house. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

Mike

Mike,

I would love to stop by with the Camaro but I would have to drive across the US to Denver. Thanks.

Dan I had the same thing with the guy that owned my Chevelle from 1976-1989. The first time I called him he hung up. The seconed time the same thing. I wrote him a letter with several pics and a copy of the build sheet and still no response. I even tried the letter route a year later and STILL nothing. Mine just might be a lost cause. People are strange.
