68's at this time do not bring the kind of numbers the other BB cars get. Also, 325 HP cars are down on the scale as well. The colors are right on this one for sure. I would say $15K in present condition and maybe $25K if quality is top notch when redone??????????

Although I usually agree with Dons assessments on most Chevelle matters, I respectfully disagree with him this time. The 68 Chevelles are getting more and more desirable. We've seen many unrestored 68 numbers matching BB chevelles go for high teens. We've also seen some of the nicely restored 68's go to the mid 30's, and a few real nice 68 numbers matching, everything plated corectly, frame off restorations go mid to upper 40's. At CB04 there were two L-79's and my BB which were all worth well over the 30's. Don there was also a 68 next to your car at the show in Tenn ( Supercar Display in Pigeon Forge) that is for sale for 45,000.00 plus. Two BB 68's beat all the 69's at the Maryland (ACES) Show this year. My point is, they've been getting more popular over the last few yrs, and I don't think you will lose and money investing in a 68... And Don, the 68's had a pretty good showing in Niagara Falls too.
Just my 02. Bill Rose Happy Birthday Don...

At the rate the dealers are buying up cars it is driving prices thru the roof. The 15# sounds pretty close to the going rate ,as I myself have been looking at the 68s before they get out of control.I recently inquired about the 68 on ebay that was sold out of yenko, with pop and all paper work and they were(dealer)asking 38,000.The 68 at the show you were referring to was absolutly pristine,so that price is in line with todays going rates.

I always liked the 68's myself. The high horse cars seem to be getting their due a bit more...could be due to the fact that others are soaring and the 68's are along for the ride too...

You had to get that jab in didn't you Bill

Your points are very well taken. When it comes to this stuff we have to watch our wording I guess as "adjectives" can mean different things to different people. There is "Top Quality" as referred to in my original post, then there is "Awesome" for cars like yours and Dave Belk's L79.

For the sake of our readers let me say that Bill's machine was the Peoples Choice "Favorite Chevelle" at this year's Northern Chevelle Gathering which had about 160 vehicles in attendance so he has a good handle on quality

The column shift certainly doesn't help any. My experience at the dealership supports '68's lagging everything else '66-70, and the column shift turns off a lot of buyers who envision floor shifting in their musclecar fanatasy. I'd err on the side of caution when negotiating this one.

Don... I appreciate the accolades, but thats really not what I was going for. I was just trying to make the point that the 68 are getting more popular. Your right, there are a lot of $15,000.00- 68's out there and there are different levels of restoration. I'm partial to the 68's I guess, cause my first car was a used 68 SS-396 Chevelle when I was in high school. Whoa thunk we'd be sending internet messages about these cars 25 years later ??? Bill
