1971 Chevelle SS Modified by Motion Performance:
Today I went to TNTGOTCARS.com to look and view the 1971 Chevelle Motion Conversion car they have. This is the same car that was at the Atlantic City, NJ Auction. The owner was a nice man. He let me climb all over the car, getting numbers, taking pictures. He took me for a ride, opened and closed the hood a few times, revved the motor to let the cowl open and close. He said he talked to Joel Rosen and Marty Shorr and the car is scheduled to me trucked to Florida for a complete inspection by Joel sometime in the next week or so. The owner faxed Joel compies of the documentation and Joel stated it is 100% real. Marty wants to use the car in the book he is writing about Motion Performance. He has more authentic documentation then I could take pictures of. Joel said the hand writing is his wife's writing. He also has a factory build sheet where it should be noted that the car is an authentic SS/M40 car. Some oddities about the car: -Radio, Tach, Cig. Lighter, Temp Gauge, Heater Controls, Windshield Wipers, WW nozzles do not work. -The car interior and trunk leak pretty good. The dealer owner washed the car before I arrived and the car had a puddle in the trunk and on the rubber carpet mats. -The car has plastic inner fender. I did not know if this was special for Chevelles or not, but there was no sign of this change on the Motion documentation. This change would make as the battery was relocated to the trunk. -Standard wear and tear throughout the car includes a cracked dash pad, sun burnt vinyl top, and a ripped drivers seat. The dealer owner took me for a ride. The car pulls straight on acceleration but upon deceleration the car pulls to the left which means the passenger side breaks are going. I was surprised. Even with Hook Super Comp Headers the car is very quiet! It must have been a sleeper back in the day. I took 60 pictures, here are a select few. -Dan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
