HELP !
What are the application(s) for this button cap ? I've got four of 'em in really nice shape, and would like to know what they go on before I sell. Tx. ![]() |

As you probably already know, those caps fit a chevy rally wheel, both 14 and 15 inch diameters. I believe they came on police cars and service vehicles in place of the standard "derby" caps used on other passenger cars...not sure about the years used, but the chevy rally wheel was produced from 1967 until 1977, so they'll fit any of those wheels. For a long time I thought they were something the aftermarket came up with, and not an actual production piece, but i saw an NOS GM set a few years ago.

Casey I love those caps and have some put up, I am pretty sure they showed up in '68 but may be wrong, I had the boxes to a set I bought new back in '84 but lost them in a move, it used to be either you had them or not but with repops on the market it can be tought to tell them apart sometimes, I just picked some up at a garage sale that are repops and are very thick/heavy built and are the chromed version, the originals are fairly thin/light and will dent easy if you get crazy and push them from the middle, are yours stamped with ink on the inside??? and how are they finished on the pinch where they attach the top to the rim clip part???.
they have been called all sorts of things over the years but we always called them "State Patrol Caps" I liked to run Rallys with no trim rings and these caps, had a real clean look. Bud. |

Definitely came in '67, I personally knew of a 327-275 Biscayne 4 door that went to a sheriffs dept new and it had these caps, silver wheels, no trim rings.
