Any SYC members live in or near Charlotte NC? I need to make some new friends here. I just moved here a week ago and so far I really like it. All of my Chicago friends will flip out, I rented a 3 bdrm, 2 bath, 2 car garage house here for $800/mo. Now my fiance and I just need to find jobs here

I'm about 2 hours from Charlotte. There are lots of shows, cruise-ins and swap meets in the area every year. You need to check out the AutoFair at Lowe's speedway. It is the largest swap meet in the southeast. I haven't saw the dates for this year but it is usually in April and September. The April one is the best. You are also close enough to Pigeon Forge Tennessee to check out the shows and cruises they have there every year. The last one I went to had 5 to 7,000 cars. You should be able to find plenty to do in the area.

Brian,
I'm about 2+ hours west of you in Asheville, NC. I moved here three years ago from NJ. It's definately different here. Jobs are tough out in my area, but I have my own business so I'm OK. Charlotte is a lot better though in the jobs arena. Send me a PM if you talk shop. ![]() Steve

I'am just north of Raleigh and own a couple of late model SS Camaros myself.
James is correct, your right in the thick of Nascar country and most of the teams are based in or around Mooresville. And again, as James mentioned, the Autofair at Lowes Speedway is a 'must do'. The spring 06 dates are April 6 - 9. I have a vender space in the infield and usually have plenty of extra room if you want to sell a few parts. While you're in Pigeon Forge, TN. be sure to visit Floyd Garrett's muscle car museum. www.musclecarmuseum.com Perhaps one of the best collections of Americian muscle on public display in the country. Shoot me a email with any questions or concerns.

Hey in Wilkesboro NC here, only about 2 hours from you, and take Stuart Adams advice and go by and check out Detroit Speed and Engineering, they are great people, that really build some amazing products and cars, they are a real class act. Later.
