Yenko's at B-J

All the frenzy at the B-J acution, made me think, what would a real 69 Yenko Camaro run the bidding to? No mine is not for sale. But I couldn't help but wonder. So I went to the B-J web site and could not find any ever sold there. They have sold "RECREATION" Yenko's but not the real thing. Is this correct? What kind of frenzy would a real car bid that price to? What do you think?

My friend bought a deepwater blue 67 Yenko there a few years ago for 110K. 68 Yenko 8S013 also sold there a couple years ago. Reggie Jackson had his Yenko Chevelle there a couple years ago.

Several years ago I watched a Garnet Red Yenko Duece sell at B-J.

I get calls from various people, wondering if our COPO Chevelle might be for sale. It's not. I feel that a properly done car can sell it self. Originality, documentation and quality of restoration will dictate the final price. At auction you might get more or maybe not. The two at B-J and a couple on the internet doesn't give people much to choose from. A Yenko on the right day could get pretty pricey with the Camaro drawing more than a Chevelle. When $500K can't spring a ZL1 loose, I could see a $300-$400K Yenko. Speculators, supply, and demand are a dangerous combination especially with a limited supply.

Whenever i see a good example of a muscle car get poor dollors at BJ and wonder whats with the bidders it's usually becouse there is an issue with the car thats not brought up on TV so WATCHING the BJ is not like being there and should'nt dictate what the market will hold. And transversly some of the cars that are going through are the top in it's class and dosent mean yours will be worth that.

Maybe I am missing something. However, I would personally find putting a high dollar car up with Barrett Jackson at no reserve, a gamble. You might follow a car or series of cars which may cool the crowd off. All this may cost you tens of thousands of dollars. I guess you got to have big ones!

How about the flip side of this - when a car with issues still brings top dollar? Isn't it the case that sometimes bidders are overpaying because they simply don't always know what is correct? Jerry pointed out a bunch of stuff on that low-mileage Z that I bet the high bidder wasn't aware of.

No offense, but I have a hard time believing that all the bidders are savvy. Add ignorance to list of ingredients for a dangerous mix.

I think those buyers are these investors (non gearheads) that don't know what they're buying they have just been told dump your stocks and buy some musclecars. I saw some obvious great cars, not nessasarly muscle cars go for good buys that these "investors" (is there a name we can call these people) were missing. There was some good buys going through on sunday.
