Default Ebay Problem...Has this happened to you?

Went online tonight to check my Ebay account for a couple items I was watching. In 4+ years I have bought less than a dozen items. Anyway I go to sign in and my account password does not work. I get the invalid password message. I try a few more times but no luck. I hit the "forgot password" tab and go to my email account and no email after 20 minutes.

I then hit the contact Ebay button and filed a report which they say will be answered in 24-36 hours. GREAT!!!

Has this happened to anybody else? Did my account get hijacked? I only access from our secure home desk top but something seems a little phishy here.

Any suggestions?

Search ebay for your user id and see if they posted any items for sale under your name. This way you will have all of the info when you get them in the morning.

Thanks again Rich.

I tried that and didn't see any new auctions and or feedback for that matter so I am hoping it's some sort of glitch or something.

I knew if I tried here I would get a better idea what to do. Thanks

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but last nite I tried to create an ebay account. During the process, it asked for credit card information. I didnt see the reason for it, since I wasnt trying to set up a PayPal account or anything. The people I know that have ebay accounts said they werent asked for that, and with the way the scammers have found a way to work ebay, I quit there.

Is this something new, or is it just normal?

TIA,
dave

1- if your wireless they may have got ya..I guess the new thing is they are cruising neighborhoods and jacking the wireless info flying around, I knew this would become a issue and stayed hard wired here.

2- I think they used to only require a card if you wanted to sell but did not if you wanted to buy only, they may have changed that policy, its only so they can get there listing fee's without chaseing you around for payment, pretty harmeless.

After reading through their info, they want that info in order sell on ebay. Also necessary if using a "free" email account like yahoo, hotmail, etc. (which I wasnt).

I'm guessing its fine, just cant be too careful these days.

This exact thing happened to a friend of mine. About a year and a half ago she noticed that all of a sudden she was selling computers on eBay. Someone stole here account.

A week ago I tried changing some account info and it asked me for credit card numbers? . I think it was genuine but not being a seller, I was suspicious so stopped and left things alone. .

Why when you click on 'keep signed in on this computer' does it not last? . All it seems to do is get me used to instantly giving my password and more susceptible to the phishers?. . That posting a few weeks back of the ZL1 on the fake site but exact as an eBay ad almost had me as clicking on the 'other items' or the 'watch tab' it asked for the password in the regular way....I caught myself halfway through entering it! .

I know eBay has it's hands full but there's a few things that they could do to help. . Dual passwords so if your main one is hi-jacked, your other 'base' password would over-ride the hi-jacked one and give you a chance to unwind things on your own for example? ~ Pete
