Default 1967 Chevelle SS396 Convertible

Got a buddy who just boought a project. It's a 67 Chevelle SS 396 convertible.Get the car home from the flatlands(Manitoba)and discover it has a coupe frame in it.After getting hold of the original owner he says the car was hit and the RH front frame was bent in the 70's.Now we need a convertible frame.I've managed to find a 1967 Buick Skylark convertible whose owner will part with his frame. Before we fork out the bucks and go to the trouble of separating bodies and frames does anybody know if this A-body swap is correct. If not what other A-bodies should we be looking for.I'd really hate to go to all that work and expense and find out they're not compatable.Anybody got some advise?Oh bye the way"SO LONG REDWINGS NUMBER 1 IN REGULAR SEASON, OUT IN FIRST ROUND AGAIN"

I thought the Partial VINs were on the rear frame rails.

I would also ask over on the Team Chevelle site

What happened to my post?? I answered this once before.

According to the Hollander interchange (Chevelle edition), only a 1967 Chevelle ragtop frame will work, none of the other years or GM models fit.

Mine disappeared too. Must be due to the crash talked about in the main post. I have heard and El camino frame is the same only longer. Once cut down it will work like a charm and fit like a glove, so I've been told.

El Camino and station wagon are same..

I doubt it would be a easy conversion.
