Default 1967 Camaro RS SS 396 375hp L78 Coupe

I am listing this car on behalf of the current owner, car is located in Ohio.

Offered is a very nice original documented 1967 Camaro RS SS L78 4-Speed coupe with 4.10 rear. Currently one of only 75 known remaining L78 coupes according to CRG. The car is currently red but was Madeira Maroon from the factory with standard black interior. The car currently has a 1965 396 engine (from a transistorized ignition car) with aftermarket intake, headers, carb, HEI, etc. transmission has been converted to an automatic (4-speed hole in floor has not been tampered with). The rear is a correct 67 twelve bolt traction arm rear end with 4.10’s, it may be the original but I could not get the numbers off it due to aftermarket exhaust. Body has had Fenders, quarters, and outer wheel houses replaced with NOS metal. Rockers and doors are said to be original to car and are in excellent condition with no signs of rot. Emblems have been replaced with a combination of NOS and aftermarket. RS headlight work great. The interior is in excellent condition with original seat covers except for the driver’s side bottom. Sea belts are original and properly date coded, headliner is original, etc. all in great condition. Floors are good except for three small spots that need to be fixed, 2 in trunk will need patches just behind the shock towers about and one around the passenger front floor drain. The rest of the floors including the areas around the 3 spots are excellent. Trim tag and pop are original and reflect the car as being a true RS/SS L78 4.10 rear car. I will be answering questions on the car for the owner as I have spent a fair bit of time inspecting and verifying it. For more info call 732-361-8510 or e-mail [email protected] PM’s are welcome as well to 67l78conv.

Looks to be holding a B&M Star shifter too.
In May 1980 I was pulled over for Dragracing on Main st. from Lombards finest.
The arresting officer even wrote on the ticket he heard/saw me chirpin through all 4 gears during it,as proof.
I told Barney Fife he had the wrong vehicle,as I clearly had a 3spd Auto trans attached to my Starshifter.
That slapstick was

The driver next to me bolted the other way. They never found him.
I showed up in court and was given 6 mos.court supervision, because the arresting officer was nearly as old as I was and determined to blow the whole thing way out of proportion, mentioning he heard REO Speedwagons,"Time For me to Fly" turned up on the radio, etc. The judge couldn't believe his zeal and had sympathy for me.
(it was 1980 and there was much more leneancy than there is today)
The cop quit the force years later and was arrested for drunk driving later on.
Good times..

Stranger things have happened but I don't understand the tranny swap out. Was this car raced? I see the brake pedal is for an auto car.

Just for your information, the cutout in the tunnel on 1967 Camaros is exactly the same whether it had an automatic or manual tranmission. You can't tell what tranny it had just by that.

Haw about a picture of the firewall around the steering column and brake setup?

Nice car but...

Rick H.

Yes, the car was a race car most of it's life. It was purchased from one of the leading COPO,L89,L78, high performance selling dealerships in Ohio.

The Chain of ownership, Original Protecto plate, and original trim tag, as well as numerous other items designate the car as a RS/SS, 4 speed, L78 Camaro.

BTW,Mike thanks for all the help!
