Default Another eBay Story

Up until a week ago this car belonged to a guy I work with. He offered it to me for $4500. It was his mothers and he no longer had any interest in the car. Immediately the gears start turning, 1967 GTA for $4500? Sure, I'll be over after work to look at it. Needless to say, he described it a lot better than it was. It had all the correct equipment, it was a base GTA, no other options. I verified the data plate, it was all good. Now on to the rest of the car. RUST. Although it looks good, it was sitting outside parked for many, many years. The only good panel on this car was the roof. Every other panel was either rusted through or paper thin. It's ashame, the car was nice before parked on the side of the house in the dirt. Even he didn't realize how bad it was until we looked it over. He did have replacement fenders to go with it. I passed on the car figuring that for a little more money I could get one that was in a little better shape. He actually had a few people come look at it and pass for the same reason.
Fast forward to last week. A guy knocks on his door and asks if the car is available. Sure, make an offer. Guy goes on and on about how he's been looking for one and this is the perfect car. Offers him 5K, Sold! Guy starts again about how he can't wait to get it home and start working on it. My friend feels good that the car is going to good home with someone who cares about the car.
For whatever reason he was on eBay today and saw the car. He was honestly hurt that this guy had put the car right onto ebay. I know this happens all time, I just never witnessed it from the other side. But anyway, that's not the point of this rant. This guys description of the car is no where near accurate. Whomever wins this car is going to be pissed when they see it in person. I guess it is one of those things you know happens all the time, it just irritates me because with this one I know the whole story. I just wish there was a way we could warn prospective buyers about a car.
