Interesting claims made by George...

Significant muscle car collection to be offered
More than two dozen American muscle cars from a single private collection will be offered for sale at the world-renowned Bonhams & Butterfields annual Quail Lodge auction in Carmel, California.
There are no fewer than 12 Corvettes, five Chevelles, three Camaros and three Mustangs. Some of the more valuable models include a 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda convertible, one of 14 ever built and one of nine with an automatic transmission. The pre-auction estimate is between $750,000 and $1 million.
Another Mopar up for auction is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T convertible, supposedly one of nine, with a pre-auction estimate of between $500,000 and $700,000. Two special Chevrolets include a 1970 Chevelle LS6 convertible, number 17 of 20 built, and one of six with a four-speed manual transmission. The pre-auction estimate is between $400,000 and $600,000. A 1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro also is being offered and is expected to bring nearly $400,000. The auction takes place Friday, August 17. For more information, call 800-223-2854.
