Default Photos from York '07

I was at the show all afternoon Sat. and took a bunch of photos, as promised. I made a big mistake though. I was afraid I might fill up the camera memory, so I set the resolution a notch lower than normal, and the result is that the cars are not as sharp as they should. Definitely not up to Bruce's standards...

So, here goes. As soon as I parked I noticed this very neat Camaro next to me.

Walked around the outside show a little and took a few more

Fell in love with this '62 Bonny. Seemed to be mostly original with just the right patina inside

BEautiful Camaro driving by as I was walking

This Firebird was stunning! IT had an AACA Senior badge on the grille.

Not a musclecar, but this IMpala just caught my eye.

That old Gasser look. I don't think it was really a race car though.

OK, now on to inside! This car must have been a handfull!!!

Allen George owns this original Altered from back in the day with a Buick straight 8. The chassis from this car was actually stolen a couple years ago, then couple buddies noticed it at a local swap meet, and they got it back!

Allen's '62 race car was parked right behind it.

Roger Sortino from Washington brought his TWO Z-11s for display. First, the Terry Prince car. Terry gave Roger every piece of information he had on this car including the dealer order, all NHRA correspondence, trophies, even his Nationsl Winner's jacket!

Dig those original slicks!

This car won the entire field at the '64 Winternationals at Beeline Dragway. It was the first major race for the new AWB cars.

Here's another wild ride!!

Hank brought out his Z-11. Who could forget the passes he made with this car last year at Collinsville!

Completely Original Unrestored (original owner) LS-6. Owner: Paul Gero

I wonder what this sounded like???

Chip Miller's old Purple People Eater

OK, it's a FORD, but how could you not like this car?!?!

Had to take a break from all those boring cars....

Now for some SYC cars!!! Great showing guys!!

I got to meet Don Stowers and his very original double COPO car! We talked for a long time and I learned more about Camaros than I ever knew. It was a pleasure Don!

Stepped outside for a Butt.........

Back inside...

Marlin's Duece

Looking good Marlin..

Even those Atlas wheels.....

The original Speedwin car. Breathtaking!!

Loved this car!!

Back to the SYC area: Is this car COOOOL or what???

Uncle Tom and Marlin....talking about nothing important....
It was great to see you guys again.

Hellen Gibb's Nova

Hellen wasn't having a good time at all...... What a sweet lady

Got to meet Joe who has owned this survivor since '89, and he's still in contact with the original owner!

And finally, here are some shots of Steve Sandlin's Dana. I can't believe how solid this car is. Almost no metal work at all will be needed!

The original vinyl roof is perfect and will likely stay there!

Brian from the SuperCar Workshop gave a few of us a nice tour of the car and explained it's many original features!

He made sure we saw this old Dana service sticker. He promised it will be perserved as is!

That's it guys. Hope you enjoyed the show!!! I sure did!!

Thanks Ken,
That reunion is very special. It's almost surrealistic. For anyone who has old time drag racing in their blood it is truly a trip back in time. So many "real" old cars and the original personalities as well, up close and personal. They're all willing to talk to anyone and tell stories of racing days. And I hate to say it, but those from that era are not getting any younger. Every year we keep losing more of them. It's uncomfortable to talk about, but I think most people realize that these opportunities to enjoy time with and learn from these old heroes are disappearing.
