that just sucks..

And THREE HOURS to respond, well that's bullshitt, plain and simple. I hope that at least the COPO finds it's way back safely. The other stuff, while unfortunate, can be replaced with insurance. The Camaro is another story. It's priceless.

we had our car stolen in our DRIVEWAY of a new house we moved into - under the street light ...

WHILE A NEIGHBOR WATCHED

she never called the police even though she thought it was "unusual" for people to be in our driveway at 3 am and was "frightened" that they would see her ... thank goodness they moved shortly after that

when I did report it in the morning they NEVER showed, just took a report over the phone, apparently it happens all the time and it is a waste of their time to drive out

Sorry to hear about this....I hope you can recover the rig, truck and car plus your piece of mind...

One thing I started doing a few years back was to install a tracking device in all my cars and trailer. It won't stop them from stealing but at least I know we can track the bastards down and have law enforcement there.

I'm really sorry to hear about this and hope Pete and his wife get their property back. Sorry to hear about the rest of you that have had this happen as well. I hope something can be done to bust up whatever is happening in that area, it sounds awful.

That's terrible news. On the positive side, but I think it would be VERY hard to sell any of the parts from this car to anyone without anyone from the supercar circle recognizing where it came from. Everyone keep your eyes and ears peeled, and hopefully Pete can get his car back ASAP.

[ QUOTE ]
If that's true, it sounds like an extra cell phone which is left in a trailer or vehicle strickly as an anit-theft device might be worth it. Hide it in the vehicle then call it after a theft and have it traced.

[/ QUOTE ]

This summer here in Athens a guy shot and killed his wife and to male acquaintances, and then he fled. The found his his car a few days later when the cell phone died and sent out a "ping". It was in a wooded area in a ravine.

I don't know how accurate this information is but it explains cell phone tracking.
Apparently a cell phone that is on can be tracked. If it is off it can be located from it dying ping when the battery dies.
