Yenko Camaro Hurst Dual Gate Mounting
Hey everyone,
Hoping someone can help me out. We’re starting to put back together our Yenko and have ran into an issue I’m hoping someone else with an automatic 69 a Yenko Camaro can shed some light on. So when the car showed up it’s dual gate was gone and someone put a horseshoe style shifter in its place. Since it was missing I bought an NOS dual gate but have now come to the realization the mounting brackets must be wrong. The brackets would make the console be off-center and every other Yenko automatic car seems to show the console being mounted fairly centered. I’m hoping someone can share some pictures of their car with the brackets showing so I know what I need to be hunting for. It doesn’t seem like it would be extremely hard to fabricate them but imagine that when they were installing these, the brackets had to be for something and not custom. Thanks Andy |

thats not the right Hurst Shifter for a 69 Yenko Camaro.
Yenko used the Hurst Dual gate with the curved chrome stick. Hurst made a lot of different versions of the Dual Gate shifter |

So are they completely different or do I just need to swap out the handle? The handle is curved and not completely straight…

The one you have might be a reproduction
here are some photos of the curved ones I have seen in original 1969 Yenko cars. |

Could be. I’ll probably have to just roll on with what o have and keep an eye open. I can make brackets, not issue there. Just wanted to see what was out there for information.

Yenko used the Hurst version of the Dual Gate that was sold as a column to floor conversion kit.
This was one of the best auto shifters at that time and was even used in some Funny Cars and other pro drag cars. It was used in the 1968 Hurst Olds and 68 Hemi Dart and Barracuda There is info online if you search on 1968 Hurst Olds and 68 Hemi Dart. GTO and Olds and others also had OEM Hurst Dual Gate shifters so there were many versions made and many different mounting brackets. |

I think this Dual Gate has the brackets for a Camaro
The Camaro has a more flat top trans tunnel vs the more rounded Chevelle tunnel |
