Default Re: Big Block Valve Covers

"They came off of something that did not have a power booster. The drivers side would have had the slope in the valve cover to clear the booster."

Not true.... many cars, including 69 Camaro b/b came with a driver side valve cover without the "booster slant"

That's a common misconception that is, at least in part, perpetuated by some of the resto houses. Seems like I read somewhere that the slant vs no slant was for the corvette.

On the Camaro, and probably the Chevelle, the wiper motor comes closer to interference with the valve cover, than the booster.

copojoe, not picking a fight here, just wanted to help prevent anyone else from purchasing slanted covers in error. Anyone want to buy an almost new set of repop covers with the slant?

BTW, I have seen several instances of very nice real Yenkos with the slanted covers. Probably installed them before the myth was dispelled. Last time I researched it, the correct ones were not being reproduced. I searched ebay for a year or so, before I found the correct ones. Got several incorrect ones, and some "almost correct" ones (correct for chevelle) before I got the correct ones. Of course then I had them "over-restored" by having them show chrome plated.
