So the Nova is best kept with the 427 & Dana 60 5.13 gear drive train. |

I think the confusion some of us that have been following this thread are having is that brgrman indicated early and often that the Nova had a supplanted real L-88 engine. I personally found this to be one of the most interesting aspects of this story.
This L-88 motor has been referred to in any number of posts in the last few days; this claim has never been disputed by either party in this transaction. However, Stefano recently told us he was told the engine in the car is actually a ’68 L71??? Both buyer and seller have since made posts since Stefano’s revelation, with neither gentleman offering any clarification. Might we therefore assume that this is once again a case of, “it’s an L-88…. yeah, that’s the ticket….” Don’t leave us hanging guys; just the facts, please. |

Correct; brgrman claimed on the Corvette Forum that this L-88 was missing it’s aluminum heads. Just seems to me that when questions of an individual’s forthrightness are made (i.e. the initial representation of this car when still for sale), an effort would be made to steer clear of murky waters, so to speak.
Again (and I realize that these individuals are surely retired for the night) there has already been a significant time frame for a response to the issue of the Nova’s engine. Not my intention to berate anyone, in fact both guys seem very serious and enthusiastic about the hobby. That’s why I’m hoping the light of a new day will allow for the fog to clear on the facts here. |

What I was referring to was that Brgrman stated the car was sold Thursday 2/28/08 and to be picked up Sat 3/1/08 then on another forum states on 3/2/08 the engine doesn't go with car. I thought John bought the whole package and I guess he did, I was wondering why after the car was sold and gone the former owner was still mentioning the car as if it were still his.

Come on Tommy. Didn't anybody tell ya?? Strat is Johns agent and race promoter. I hear a vintage Pro Stock shoot out with Mark's (madkraut) ex Pro Stock camaro, Johnny P's. (weekend warrior) Modified Eliminator/Pro Stock nova and the guest appearing car will be that bad a$$ yellow COPO with the tunnel ram from Pittsburg, with Kenny P. at the wheel! I also heard rumors of a new BB nova out of eastern Pa. that may come! So stay tuned!! Sunday,Sunday,Sunday va- va-va voom way!

John first wanted the 427 from the Nova and the LS-7 and not the car , so John bought the Nova complete and in tact. John was going to separate the 427 motor from the car, but John changed his mind and decided to keep the Nova as his nostalgic drag car and sell his drag Chevelle car instead. I do feel that once a vehichle sells it should be the new owners that post any information unless they cannot post and ask someone to post more for them. I think it a courtesy that the former should bow out from posting more about it to cut down on confusion. I never felt good about posting anything about a car I sold because it wasn't mine anymore. [/ QUOTE ] The motor transplant from the Corvette was the short block only, no intake or alum heads or carb, just the bottom end. Owner #2 said it's a 427 12.5 compression L-88 Corvette motor.He even gave us the 5 gallon gas can with Sunoco blue 110 race gas for the car, so I know it has the compression and sound like it to. What a beautiful sound even gas for this will be 6 dollars a gallon. |
