In our AM safety meeting I asked if anyone knew what today was? Sorry to say, no one did.
I salute our American hero's. |

Here, here! My 1st duty station was at Naval Station Long Beach (CA) and my work space was in a WWII era Quonset hut and it was a stone’s throw from the docks including a view of the Mighty Mo’ (BB62). She had recently been brought out of mothballs and refitted with then modern war fighting capabilities (but of course she still had her 16” guns which always seem to get everyone’s attention). When she was in port, she was a sight to be seen and very inspirational!
Edit: oops, BB63.....memory a tad faulty!

I can't thank the Vets enough for all their sacrifice. When I was working in Hawaii I made sure to get over to the Arizona memorial and set foot on the decks of the Missouri. I'll never forget either experience.

VJ Day...
We need to be aware of our history and the people who made it...sometimes this may not be PC...but, you can't know where you are going, if you don't know where you have been!

I knew I had a few pictures from my trip, but they were on another drive. Here's a couple.
